Mykenai

Mykenai

There were gold artifacts among the other valuable items found in the grave-shafts at the fortress of Mykenai ... most of these artifacts can be seen at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens. This particular item caught my attention because, according to the filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici, it is a replica of the Biblical Arc of the Covenant. In his History Channel special, Decoding the Exodus, Mr. Jacobovici claims that there were Greeks with the Israelites when they fled Egypt and that they settled in Mykenai and were the ancestors of Atreus and Agamemnon. Mr. Jacobovici makes a convincing argument that this artifact is a representation of the Arc of the Covenant that the Greeks created it to commemorate their sojourn in the Sinai desert with the Israelites.
