This is the central square above the Syntagma Metro station. There were loungers on shaded benches, people passing out pamphlets, tourists, and commuters mingling on the square. The overall feeling is one of busy people with a purpose but without the hustle and bustle you might expect in a large city. I used the subway during the non-rush hours and had no trouble getting around. This is, more or less, the center of the city ... from here you can get to any point in Athens without much trouble. The Syntagma underground station is quite large but easy to navigate.
