The Old Acropolis Museum was located next to the Parthenon and filled with relics collected from the ruined buildings that once occupied the Acropolis. The artifacts might give you the impression that the Acropolis was a cold and hard looking place but the opposite is true ... the building and artwork were brightly painted and, by modern standards, might be considered gaudy or garish but I tend to think that the bright paint was a way to give life and warmth to an otherwise stark environment.
