Aigai
Aigae

The undersea location of Poseidon's palace.

Descending Mount Ida near Troy, Poseidon, lord of the sea, reached his golden palace at Aigai in four strides. Donning his golden armor, Poseidon mounted his chariot and, driving across the waves, made his way from Aigai to the Achaian (Achaean) encampment.

The association of Aigai and Poseidon's undersea palace is not readily apparent. The geographer Strabo (first century BCE) suggests that at the time of the Trojan War, Aigai was a wetland or mire on the island of Euboia (Euboea) and therefore conceivably home to an "undersea" palace.
