A mountainous region on the north-western edge of the Gulf of Korinth (Corinth).
During the Trojan War, Thoas commanded the Akhaian soldiers from Aitolia. He mustered forty ships for the assault on Troy, which would have carried approximately 4,600 men.
The Aitolians who accompanied Thoas to Troy came from the cities of Khalkis, Kalydon, Olenos, Pleuron, and Pylene.
