Amydon
Abydon

A city in Paionia.

Pyraichmes commanded an undisclosed number of Paionian bowmen as Trojan allies from Amydon and the banks of the Axios (Axius) River. The geographer Strabo (first century BCE) stated a fortified place on the Axios named Amydon was renamed Abydon and subsequently destroyed sometime between 700 and 300 BCE by the Argeadae, rulers of Makedonia (Macedonia).
