Antheia

A city on Peloponnesian Peninsula.

Antheia

During the Trojan War, Agamemnon, commander-in-chief of the Akhaian army, tried to placate Akhilleus (Achilles) with bribes to end their feud. Among other things, Agamemnon offered to give Akhilleus Antheia and six other cities.1 Akhilleus remained adamant and would not accept the gifts or forgive Agamemnon. Antheia and the other cities offered by Agamemnon were near the sea and purported to be prosperous and fertile.
