Euboea

The large island near the eastern coast of Boiotia.

  During the Trojan War, Elephenor commanded the long-haired Abantes from Euboia. He took forty ships to Troy, which would have carried approximately 4,600 men.

  Cities on Euboia that supplied soldiers for the assault on Troy were—Dion, Eretria, Histiaia, Karystos, Kerinthos, Khalkis, and Styra.
