Helos2

A city in the domain of Nestor.

  During the Trojan War, King Nestor of Pylos commanded the Achaian (Achaean) soldiers from Helos and other cities on the Peloponnesian Peninsula.

  The precise location of Helos is not known but we can make assumptions as to its probable locality. Homer tells us it was in the domain of Nestor and the name Helos implies a marshy area. Pliny the Elder1 stated Helos was no longer in existence in his day but purported to be near the Messenian town of Dorion. Using those general references, we might assume Helos' location on the following map.
